Testimonial - Helen Akrill SCITT Primary Manager
“Gillian's support has been invaluable and having time to reflect and evaluate has allowed [our trainee teachers] to improve their approaches to their own mental health.”
In my career I have been a teacher, assistant and deputy headteacher, mentor, induction tutor, and school initial teacher trainer.
The strategies I use to support wellbeing are based on emotional intellegence, positive thinking, cognitive behaviour theory and solution based focus.
“Remember to be kind to yourself,
it's tricky being human.”
I received my BEd (Hons) in 1991 from Reading University (doc) and my MSc Psychology - Mental Health and Wellbeing in 2025 from Wolverhampton University (doc)
I became a Graduate Member of the British Psychological Society in February 2026 (doc) and a member of the American Psychological Association in 2025 (doc)
I completed my Supervision course with Anna Freud in March 2026 (doc)
